The Honda Odyssey was chosen winner for the best fuel economy rating for 2006 in continuance of a position it held in the 2005 government ratings. It was appointed as one of the five 'Best Trucks' for 2005 by Car and Driver magazine, 'Best Buy' for 2005 by Consumer Guide and Best Minivan for 2005 by Money magazine. The Odyssey even bagged the best-in-class crown from Chrysler shortly after its debut in 1999 and was at the top of its class for five consecutive years after that. It stayed belle of the ball because of its sedan-like quality, spacious and comfortable seating, impressive technology, cavernous stowage space, pleasing drive-quality and exemplary crash test scores. In 2005 a redesigned Odyssey with innumerable mechanical upgrades and hi-tech gadgetry was offered.

The Honda Odyssey is a 4-door minivan that can seat up to 8 passengers. It is available in 3 main trims: LX, EX and Touring. It gives great mileage, more improved features, and has excellent seating configurations and heaps of storage solutions as well as a 244 horsepower V6 engine with automatic transmission.

The EX trim may be ordered with leather upholstery. The Honda Odyssey Touring has a slightly stiffer suspension and is designed to be a luxury minivan. The Odyssey has a basic warranty of 36 months/ 36,000 miles.

The 2007 Honda Odyssey has a 3.5 liter (L), 244 hp, 24-Valve SOHC VTEC V6 engine for the LX and EX trims with a torque of 240 pound-feet (lb-ft). Mileage amounts to 18/25 mpg (city/highway).

The EX-L and Touring have a 3.5L, 244 hp, 24-Valve SOHC i-VTEC V6 with a standard Variable Cylinder Management (VCM). It has a torque of 240 lb-ft. EPA estimated fuel economy amounts to 19/26 mpg (city/highway). An Active Control Engine Mount System (ACM) and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) are standard on both these trims.

All trims feature a standard 5-speed automatic transmission

The Honda Odyssey has a firmly planted look with a curvy profile and is a tad reminiscent of the Accord. Its big grille is flanked on either side by large headlights. The sleek lines of the hood highlight the fender flares. Two sliding doors are common across all trims (manual on the LX and electrical operations on the rest of the trims). It has power windows that have the same mechanism as that of a car.

Excellent fuel economy and a controlled drive-feel at high speeds are arrived at courtesy of its low drag coefficient. With its Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure Honda has revamped the vehicle's crush zones to protect occupants, while also reducing damage to smaller vehicles and pedestrians at the location.

The LX features a Remote Entry System, variable intermittent windshield wipers, intermittent rear window wiper/washer, multi-reflector halogen headlights, body-colored tailgate garnish and 5-Mph impact-absorbing body-colored bumpers. The EX features a programmable Remote Entry System, heated body-colored power side mirrors, body-colored side molding, body-colored tailgate garnish, multi-reflector halogen headlights with auto off and power sliding doors.

Some features on the EX-L include a power moonroof, a programmable Remote Entry System and heated body-colored power side mirrors. The Touring has a power moonroof, power tailgate, fog lights, heated body-colored power side mirrors and a Michelin PAX System.

The Honda Odyssey's interiors are perfect; with just the right blend of comfort and convenience. It takes on an opulent aura when ordered with the leather trim. Second row bucket seats are comfortable. Mounted on the dashboard is an easy to use shift lever. The driver's seat is snug and designed to hold in the driver securely. The third-row seat splits 60/40 and fits well into the slot provided for it, without removing or folding the headrests.

The Odyssey has three rows of seating. It can seat up to eight people with the stowable 2nd-Row PlusOne seat (standard on the EX trims and optional on the others) that can be fitted in the second row. This makes the Honda a very flexible van with excellent seating capacity.

The optional navigation system is positioned quite high on the dashboard and has a large screen for convenient viewing. More importantly the Satellite-Linked Navigation System features Voice Recognition that recognizes different accents and a rearview camera. This voice activated system is programmed to respond to 637 voice commands efficiently. Other than navigation it is also used to operate radio and climate controls.

The Odyssey also has a Lazy Susan which is a carefully camouflaged rotating compartment with a lockable cover, making it a great place to keep valuables out of sight. A 360-Watt AM/FM/6-Disc In-Dash CD changer premium audio system with 7 speakers including subwoofer and the XM satellite radio are standard on the Touring.

The Odyssey's high seats, agile suspension and crisp turning radius make it a fun vehicle to maneuver around be it on the highway or a handkerchief sized parking lot. The Park-assist System helps especially with parallel parking. It has a car-like drive feel.

A versatile V6 works in tandem with the minivan's driving dynamics provides great acceleration and is a great vehicle for long journeys. It delivers responsive handling, impeccable balance and stability.

The 3.5L V6 engine functions well and is fuel efficient. Brakes are responsive. Anti-lock brakes (ABS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control and Brake Assist are standard on all trims.

Honda's Odyssey scored well in the important crash tests. It earned five out of five stars for front and side impact tests in the NHTSA crash tests. In the IIHS tests it was named "Best Pick and earned a "Good" rating (the best possible) in frontal-offset crashes.
